can i use a differnet charger for my laptop

i have a toshiba laptop and i left the charger at my dads and was wondering can i use my moms laptop charger on my laptop would it do any damage or will i be fine she has a sony vaio im not to sure the exact one but i have a toshiba sattletite 655 s5049 thanks for your help

Hi, what you need from the Sony adapter is the same voltage, 19V and 3.42A or more. Verify also the end of the plug if it's the same and the polarity (+ in the middle and - on the outside). All the informations are written on the adapter itself.
