When I turn on my new build for the first time what tests should I run?

Hi Guys,

I will be building my own rig very soon and I have been watching lots of tutorials on YouTube.

From what I have seen there are 4 tests that I should run before trying to game or anything.

1. CPUZ
2. Prime 95
3. Real Temp GT
4. Mem Test 86

From what I understand test number 1 is if I'm over clocking which I am still undecided on.
Test 4 should be downloaded on a USB and run from that but can I download them all on to a USB to run the tests?

Also are these the best tests to use?

Finally is there any Antivirus that people would suggest?
I have AVG free on my Android phone and really like it so wouldn't mind paying for the full version, if it is worth the money?!

Sorry if these questions seem stupid but I am really new to all this and want to get it right!

Thanks in advance!

Realtemp is one I would not skip. At least load it under idle and check the cpu temperatures. If they are above 40-50 ( depending on ambient temp in your room) you probably mounted your heat sink wrong or did not apply thermal paste correctly. If you hadnt caught this early, gaming could have rapidly spiked your temperature potentially damaging the motherboard or cpu.

The others I agrer that you can leave off unless you overclock or hqve crashes / bsods.

Cpu z isnt really a test, it just shows clock, voltage and other info about your cpu state.
