Looking at installing an internal wireless card in a Packard Bell Easynote F7280 with a Titan N Version A1 (NEC Computers International) motherboard produced mid 1990's

However I unsure about whether this is possible as the mini PCI slot cover when removed only shows the motherboard but no connectors I can see?
(The manual can viewed by ftp at this URL <Removed by Moderator>

Can anyone advise what options I might have here?

If you dont have the connector then you can either go usb adapter or replace the motherbd with one that has it from the factory. You dont have alot of choice here since PB would not have installed the associated support circuitry if they weren't going to put in the socket...

Thats what I would do. Do you have a pc card slot in that laptop? You possibly could find a compatible card for that also but usb would be much newer and cheaper.

Thanks popatim,noidea_77 for replying.
From what everyone says I have 3 options;

A USB Adapter - but I have one already but cannot print both off a webpage and access a USB memory stick at the same time as the connections obstruct each other with this laptop design.

A replacement motherboard to Titan N - but guess it not cost efficient

A compatible card in pc card slot of the existing motherboard (Titan N) - This looks a solution but how do I find if a pc card slot is available on this motherboard for me to use ?

Thanks

You would have a nice sized slot on the side of your laptop if you had one. They havent been installing these much anymore :-(

It looks like cardbus ( Think I've seen them on ebay etc ) but they ancient but I guess this laptop is.:)
Do you know if this case style has a blank cover to the slot as I use Linux distribution that reports I have a Cardbus connector available as the software seems to indicate?
Have pasted the output below:

Port Connector Information
Internal Reference Designator: CardBus Conn.
Internal Connector Type: None
External Reference Designator: J26
External Connector Type: Other

Handle 0x0011, DMI type 9, 13 bytes

Check the right hand side above the optical drive.
Yes sometimes they has a plastic card/insert in that you had to remove and some had a spring hinged door/lid covering them.

After pressing a button, a card card piece plastic is released showing a recess (approximately half the width of a CD) above the optical drive. Is this the required slot for the pc card to be inserted into you refer to?

Just got access to an image of what I'm seeing (Sorry only only iPhone quality)
