So I wat to build a new mATX PC and Corsair Air 240 or anotehr case because the windforce coolers are too long. I thik the Air 240 is pretty good because of its clean estetics but is the sacrafice with the GPU too huge? And what do you think about this build?

Setup:
CPU: I7-4770K
MB: Asus GRYPHON Z97
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 CL9
GPU: Asus Radeon R9 290 4GB DirectCU II (Gigabyte Windforce wuld be nicer but it's too long)
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
CPU Cooler: Corair H100i or be quiet! Dark Rock 3

PSU, HDD etc. are being recycled

Hope you can help me and Thanks if so :)

agreed. some of the mATX cases are definitely moveable but not quite as portable as mITX. nothing you can really do about that though as you can only use whats available. the smallest case i saw is likely the thermaltake one although the lian li isnt too huge and even the corsair isnt that big.

you can see sizes...

thermaltake http://i.ytimg.com/vi/zjZ24G2L60s/maxresdefault.jpg
corsair http://i.ytimg.com/vi/GdzsEXr2Kq8/hqdefault.jpg
corsair (air 240) http://i.ytimg.com/vi/iLT-rAfpUcs/maxresdefault.jpg

your motherboard manual will tell you which slots to put them in for dual channel mode. generally like this is true...
other cases worth thinking about...

cooler master elite 130
cooler master stacker 915
corsair graphite 380t
corsair 250d
lian li pc-v358

going with the dcuii over the windforce is likely a good choice. although the windforce cooler performs better gigabyte is known to have some quality control issues at times which means you could have some issues.

personally i'd go for the newer i7-4790k chip. 8gb of ram is fine for gaming and 16 is only useful if you do some rather serious complex 3d work or high res video editing.

Thanks for the answer the i7 4790k over the 4770k is a good idea and its not that much more expensive. The GPU was one of may insecurity factors so thanks for clearing that up. You are right abut the RAM to is 2x 4GB or 1x8GB better?
only the Cases are all mITX as far as I can see, but I feel like having to live with more compromises with ITX and ATX is too large to take laning (if that word exists) so mATX is pretty much the sweet spot for me. Sorry if i haven't made that clear enough :( do you have any suggestions for mATX?

Thanks a lot

2x4gb is ideal since you can run in dual channel.

pc-v358 is mATX and somewhat small.
prodigy m is mATX but a bit large and tall.
corsair 350d is mATX but is a bit large and tall.

the thermaltake urban looks to have many of the design features of the elite 130 but has mATX support. howver it doesnt have quite as good cooling options.

the trouble is that most of the extremely compact cases which are good for traveling are mITX based. many of the good cases for mATX are mid-tower sized which are a bit harder to travel with.

i did like the corsair air 540 that i saw in person, not sure how it translates down to the smaller 240 though. its sort of a big cube though. i didnt like the fact that it has lots of plastic all over it though. airflow should be pretty good if its similar to the bigger case i got a chance to handle.

Thanks you are helping me a lot on this :) the problem with mATX you talk about is pretty sad but mITX is really too smal for me... so I probably will have to go with one of the not that great movable cases.
What is this Dual/Single Channel mode put it in slot "a1" and "a2" or "a1" and "b1" ?? its something i never understood xD

Thanks again !!!!!

basically since you have two sticks installed your computer can read/write to the ram faster. think about it like having a single 2 lane road connecting two places compared with 4 lanes connecting two places.

Thanks again and again
the air 240 looks even smaller than i thought and I think its best bc of the usually bad and easily restricted airflow in those small cases witch is eing acounted for wit the dual camber design :)
Ok the dual channel thing is what i thought it might be thanks for the boost of knowledge :)

And Thanks for everything ... again...
