Hello everyone!
I have a major problem, i have two radeons on my asus p5q pro turbo mobo: amd built R9 290 and an older his x1550 512mb 128bit and i want to use them in a no crossfire config, simply put i want to be able to display desktop in the same time on both screens i have assigned to each video card as following:
- a 60" led 3d hooked through hdmi to first card, the r9 290
- a old crt samsung 17" hookef through a vga connector to my second card, the x1550.
I need your help cause it seems there is a driver/ ccc issue on my p5q pro turbo: i manage to fix the driver for r9 but i get driver conflict for x1550 and it seems win7 x64 likes to install a wdm driver for the latter but it doesn't work either in wdm. So bottom line, i have only the r9 driver working and i am not able to enjoy the signal from the x1550 in the same time.
Is it possible on my mobo to use two radeons on two screens maybe this mobo likes only crossfire setups?
Thank you in advance
Kat

I know r9 is capable but unfortunately it doesn't have a vga connector anymore and i want to be able to use the crt monitor and i don't like converters like dvi-d to vga or hdmi to vga because they really have issues.
I'll read the link and get back.
Thank you for the info.
I did find 64bit drivers for x1550, they are on amd website but the win7 os doesn't like them, it seems to want to install the wdm drivers for it but doesn't succed anyway so i have a conflict (yellow sign in device manager)

A dvi-vga adapter is just a wiring difference. Only one dvi port on your gpu carries the anaolg signals the vga monitor uses though. There would be no difference in the image. Check your R9's box, many come with the adapter. I must have 3 or 4 laying around.

As far as I see the 10.2 drivers are the last released ones and they are 32 bit. You would need to manually extract the files without installing CCC and then manually install the driver thru device manager, similar to "Have Disk", and point it to the extracted inf drivers.

But now I wonder if you could uninstall your current version of CCC and installl 10.2 and then upgrade to the current version. LoL

The bad issue here is that my r9 dvi ports are i think only dvi-d so no analogue signals anymore.
I wil try to uninstall like you said and to manually install the x1550 drivers. I think i know how to try to uninstall the ccc.
So basically my problem is a driver problem and not a hardware conflict? That would be great.
Tx Tim, i will get back afterwards.
Update: no luck in the end. after majpr succes of installing x1550 10.2 driver using manual method and so win7 x64 sp1 did recognized my x1550 card properly ( i had removed all amd and ccc first so r9 aswell) and showing r9 in device manager as standard vga adapter, i thought it was high time for next step so i started to install drivers 14.7 ccc suite for my r9. The install went great but after restart, surprise! I had r9 installed and properly recognized and my x1550 card (which is shown twice in device manager , one as secondary adapter) having the yellow warning sign again. I don't know what to do anymore. Now i have the r9 up and running and ccc opens ok but i can't use the other card since my ccc recognizes it at system hardware info as linked adapter but there is no option in ccc for 2nd screen.
I guess win7 x64 is not ok for what i'm trying to do. Should i upgrade to win8.1 x64 instead?

I do that when i get back home. Tx. Something is tricky here and i guess i need to upgrade to a x86 os like windows 7 or maybe 8.1. X64 i guess has problems with dual video cards in a no sli or crossfire setups
Update: done it and again no succes. Now the same situation, my r9 safe and sound on the driver side and full working ccc and x1550 with yellow flag again in device manager
