So I am thinking of getting a 2nd hard-drive and I am wondering if its particularly complicated to set up. I can install it physically, but im useless when it come to the bios stuff. Will it be particularly difficult or should it be good to go as soon as I install it?

Solution
You don't really need to do anything to set it up for recording. It doesn't matter whether file compression is enabled or not, I don't think.

Your motherboard's BIOS will automatically detect that an extra HDD is connected to the computer if you connected the right cables to it, unless it's faulty. After it detects it you just boot up your PC, search 'Disk Management' and you can set up a partition for your drive. In Windows 8, searching Disk Management comes up with 'Create and format hard disc partitions'. From here you can extend the amount of space the drive can have, shrink it, split into multiple partitions or completely remove the partition (essentially wiping the HDD).

okay, i have the options to partition, but what settings are the best? I will be recording gameplay onto this drive and I have no idea what any of these options mean? Should I just mash next and it'll be okay? Should I allow file compression?
