Hi, I've just completed my first build and everything seemed to be working fine as I was installing the initial drivers via the provided disk and downloading windows updates. However, moments after restarting from the win SP1 update the screen hanged (no signal). Since then the PC only reaches a black screen with a _ in the top left corner. I've already checked the boot order in bios as well as setting to optimized defaults to of no avail. One point to not is that the motherboard's "Boot device LED" remains red. Any help would be highly appreciated.

specs:
Asus M5A97 Evo r2
AMD FX 6300
Sapphire r7 250x
Samsung evo 250gb SSD
Crucial sports XT 2x4gb
Corsair cx430M

Every new build, I recommend Memtest for a least a couple full passes prior to ANY OS. Verify the stability of the platform before getting too complicated.

Is the DRAM set up right? What model of sticks? Do you have the latest BIOS? Check the Primary boot device in the BIOS and ensure it's set to the proper drive as #1
