My usb 3.0 ports do not work on my gigabyte ga 970a-ds3p motherboard. They receive power and and will charge my phone, but windows doesn't recognize that a device is connected. It works fine in 2.0 but no 3. I got the port to work once and then it just didnt work. I can't install the drivers on the motherboard cd because it tells me i don't have supported hardware. I have it enabled in bios and chipset drivers installed. but when i plug in my phone nothing changes in device manager, but it will charge my phone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Solution
I have found the solution. I read somewhere else that someone was having an issue close to this. Apparently this is an issue with a certain gigabyte motherboards. The VIA USB 3.0 driver was missing from their device manager which it was doing the same thing for me making it look like a 3.0 driver wasn't installed. To fix the issue, you turn the computer off and turn the power supply off (I also push the power button at this time because there always seems to be a small charge left and this dissipates that charge. I also unplugged the power supply and hit the power button multiple times just to make sure). Then turn the power supply back on and turn on the computer and i plugged in my USB 3.0 phone and it said connected media device...

All USB devices are working just fine in device manager and no device is unknown or anything. All devices are fine, I don't have a USB 3.0 host controller in device manager, but I have a regular one, I don't know if I'm supposed to have a 3.0 host controller too.
I am using the USB 3.0 cable that came with Samsung galaxy s5 and it does work with other computers, also 3.0 will power thumb drives because the light on it will come on, but it won't read any data or recognize anything is plugged in.

I also checked device manager and sure enough VIA USB 3.0eXtensible host controller was there. I don't know why this happens, but it fixed it for me. So if anyone else is having an issue like this, try this method.
