I have a huge problem with my Audio. Some sounds come out just find, while others it always completely mute. Also all the sound thats coming out, comes from the right speaker only.

I suspect its outputting sound, as if I were using surround, not just 2 stereo speakers, but I can't seem find a way to fix this.

When I "test sound" the sound is completely clear and comes from both speakers.

Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

Check your mixer (looks like a brown speaker symbol on the taskbar). There are different settings for each type of input (Windows 8 shows browser, system sounds, and other programs). If the test sound works correctly, I would bet one or more applications are askew in the mixer.

I have checked everything in the mixer, and theres nothing there. Like I said, all sound is coming from the right speaker, and while some sounds come through as normal, a lot of other sounds are very low. Its like its trying to output the sound to other speakers that ain't there (this is just guessing though)

its really odd. I can't believe it to be the motherboard. Its on a fresh Windows 7 Ultmate install btw, so there ain't any updates on yet. Could this be it?

EDIT: Another example is Youtube videos. Music on videos come through clearly, but any voices is so low its inaudible.

Not all Youtube videos will have the same volume levels - so you will need to adjust based on the video (this drives me crazy....)

I have windows 7 pro on this computer, and each application will have a setting on the mixer (in my case, I have system volume, firefox, chrome, teamviewer and a few others....they aren't all set the same....

Mate you don't see to understand. This is not just a common problem that can be fixed like that. Youtube for example. Take a video, any video, that has talking and music going at the same time, in the SAME video. Normally you'd hear some background music and someone speaking. I hear the music, but no speaking.

Also all speaker balances are even between left and right speaker, yet the right speak is all thats playing

Oh my fucking god... I my audio rigged through some splitters and adapters (recording setup). One of the adapters had fallen half way out... I have literally checked everything else but that, and its so obvious. I'll retire in humiliation for a few weeks.
