Ok a certain pc game caught my eye " ARMA 3", so I started off wanting to beef up a Dell Inspiron 570 and figured it wasn't worth the effort without getting the results I wanted. So I decided to build from scratch. Started out buying a Viotek Black ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case W/ 120MM & 80MM RED LED, USB 3.0, and a New Asus GRYPHON Z97 LGA1150/ Intel Z97/ DDR3/ Quad CrossFireX & Quad SLI. with a Intel 4670K 3.4 GHz Quad-Core for effective overclocking options. I'm currently bidding on a EVGA 02G-P4-2763-RX GeForce GTX 760..I aready have a refurbished 650 watt PSU I got for Dell, that I plan on getting another one, at least a 1000 watts.
This is my first build from scratch, so if anyone want to to throw some ideas in I would appreciate the feed back.

just finished looking into a few more reviews for arma 3 specifically and your CPU is going to be great and overclocking makes a significant difference
idk, that gtx 760 is just barely going to push ultra settings (it is not a good card for SLI either with 2 gigs of GDDR and a slow memory bus). if you are willing to lower the quality a little then you will be fine
two 7950's will give you 60 fps and if you get MSI twin frzr's they will honor that warranty.
here is the last review i read:
http://www.techspot.com/review/712-arma-3-benchmarks/pa...
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/10/02/arma_iii_vide...
on ebay you can still get them for about $120 a piece and by it now for $130. amazon sells them for about $140

Hmmm well I already ordered the GPU, it's on it's way. I'll go ahead and run with it for the time being, but I can alway keep upgrading which I,ll do anyway lol. Plus they still haven't optimized the game correctly either and I'm sure they will. Alot of people love the game but only a small handful can play it. So I'm sure they'll do what they can with the online optimizing

Ok I bought a G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz stick of ram the other day, then I ended up buying a ADATA XPG V1.0 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 so I can just upgrade with the same type sticks untill I max out with my 32gb ram. Anyway my question is that, can I use both these sticks together on my board?????

Run memtest to see if they do work properly and/or prime95->blend.

The g skill I plan on just using temporarily until I upgrade more RAM with the 8gig ADATA sticks.
Still haven't received my MOBO. Had to order another one and cancel the first one because it was never sent and no response from seller on ebay since 09/11. So I ordered from a ASUS Z97-A ATX DDR3 2600 LGA 1150 from amazon, should be here mon or tues. Its got a bit more than the Gryphon. Its strange because the seller has 100% positive feed back till this week, there's 3 other people dealing with the same situation as me now, so something must of happened to the dude..
So anyway if I cant use the G skill Its really no big deal...

Ok I got my rig together, but having problem with the bios. When I go into EZ tuning it gives me an option for gamingnating and media, or something like that option. After you click on that it takes I to where you choose cpu cooler and then when I proceed, the monitor all the sudden looses frequency. The only way i found to get it back, is to pull battery from mobo and reset CMOS. I any of you have any idea whats up with this, ca can you please give me a heads up???

i did some research on that power supply and i think you have about a 50/50 chance of it working and even if it does a very good chance it will literally go up in smoke in the first couple of months.
I wish you the best of luck with that, not trying to be rude or anything just not much good to read about that power supply

Ok, I'm gonna have to wait for refund to come back from first mobo I ordered to get a new PSU.Anyway I got the frequency up to 4125mhz but CPU still says 3.4ghz?? I wanna know the difference??
it is a stock 3.4 ghz CPU that you are running at 4125. hwinfo64 is a good program to what all your running speeds are.

No,there's this list,
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...
get one from at least the first three tiers. The tr2 is in tier 5 which says,
Quote:
Tier five - Replace immediately. These units are NOT recommended for any system, no matter the purpose. Reference to higher tiered models for a better and potentially money-saving unit

while that is a good link you provided the first paragraph from your list says and the following is copy pasted from your link,"This tier list should be taken in consideration before buying a Power Supply, just like the Egg Xpert Tier list. This tier list doesn't bias in efficiency ratings or personal opinions, this tier list is generated and tiered based on un-biased, genuine reviews from leading computer hardware reviewing teams such as TechPowerUP"
notice where it says tech powerup and i just provided a link to a sortable list from techpowerup because it can be a little easier to use while looking for the value buy
btw these people are also highly regarded
johhny guru:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=...
and also hardOCP:
http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/psu_power_supplies/
if any of these sites give the PSU a recommended buy then it is a good unit and also you will see it on the toms hardware list that vic40 provided. that list is great but some people like to read a review.

Ok I finally got the parts I ordered, the Corsair H100, Fractal Design Integra R2 750W, Arctic MX2 and the new case
Anyway first off, dumbass me, the PSU only has one molenex cable, so luckily I had some adaptors, but they were 3 pin vs 4 pin headers which I read should work, so I plugged the fans into the MOBO. And I used the molenex for the CPU cooler, which the CPU cooler molenex only had 2 leads in it instead of for. So anyway before I hooked monitor and everything to it I fired it up. Seemed fine at first until I pushed the fan control button on the CPU cooler and CPU cooler fans/ pump and the two other fans all just turned off. The only things running was the fans on the GPU and PSU, I could still hear my CD drive running and the MOBO led lights were still on. Tried rebooting and, no change. Tried clearing CMOS, that got one of the H100 fans running but that didn't last.
This is turning out to be a disaster!!!
Some body please tell me what I did???

are you still using that asus board.
1 x CPU Fan connector (4-pin) for both 3-pin(DC mode) and 4-pin(PWM mode) CPU coolers control with auto detection support
1 x CPU OPT Fan connector (4-pin)
4 x Chassis Fan connectors (4-pin) for both 3-pin(DC mode) and 4-pin(PWM mode) coolers control
if everything is plugged into your motherboard i would boot up into your bios and see if everything is recognized. also check what your fan speeds are reporting and what the lowest level fan speed is.

Ok I think the controller was bad on the H100 so I unplugged the fans from the controller and found a splitter for the other case fans and everything was looking good. My temps were a whole lot better, better than I expected. A good 20+ degrees cooler on a load. Anyway I turned off pc and when I rebooted it I got beep code and no signal to the monitor. It was a 1 long and 3 short. Som I looked it up and it referred to the RAM or GPU. So first I moved RAM to slot 1 and plugged in the pc rebooted and it would trie to boot up and turn off over and over again. So I moved the RAM back and kept getting the same codes with no monitor. I ended up also removing the GPU and reseating it, now the code is gone but no signal to the monitor at all. Even tried to top plug the monitor into the onboard graphics. I'm like screaming WTF and pulling my hair out here. I dumped so much $$$$$$ on this thing

Ok I got her up and running again, no unusual beep codes or anything. I just moved the RAM back into the original position I had it and moved my GPU to another PCIe slot and it seemed to fix the problem. It seems I might have something wrong with a PCIe slot, which I dont like AT ALL! Anyway I OC her up to 4.4ghz and ran a stress test with very good temp results I'd post a pic of the stress test but it won't let me paste the pic here lol, but my temps stayed in the 60s
