I'm upgrading my pc and i bought a 280x to make cfx with my current 7970. I looked for a good psu and i really liked the EVGA Supernova G2 750w, because of the 10 year warranty (i plan to keep it for a while), fully modular and the fact that the fan doesnt run until it hits 300w.
But i've read that 750w isnt enough for this two beasts, and i cant spend more money on a psu, so is this one or the evga 850w b2 bronze. What do you think?
My specs are: intel i5-4690k @4.4 ghz, msi z97 gaming 5, 8gb 1866mhz kingston fury, 2 ssd in raid 0, and 4 corsair fans.
Thank you.

Hi - You can CF with the 750 G2, heavy OC might push it, but you'll prob be OK even with the OC. If you
go with the 850 B2, the warranty goes from 10yrs to 5.
Try moderate OC at 1st, then increase(if you feel you need to), the PSU will shut itself down if you drive it beyond
it's abilities.

From guru 3d's test:
"Power consumption AMD Radeon R9-280X

System in IDLE = 119W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 350W
Difference (GPU load) = 231W
Add average IDLE wattage ~10W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 241 Watts"

"AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina"

A quality 750w unit would probably work but it's cutting it close.

The Gold rating is only a measure of efficiency not quality however in this case the SuperFlower made G2 is one of the best on the market. The 850w B2 is also a SuperFlower made unit but it's a different platform. Still a great unit but not as good as the G2.

G2 is tier 1 the B2 is tier 2.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. The G2 is one of the very best psus current made, and will handle your cfx, if only just, but you'll be pushing the limits of the psu in heavy gaming. The B2 is also very good, but not in the performance class of the G2. However, it has 100 extra watts, so has some breathing room.

Either one will work just fine, the G2 will be stressed more, but it's built to handle that. The B2 will be stressed less, but it only built to handle that. Go with the psu you'd be most comfortable with.
