Is the Sapphire R9 290 Vapor-x worth $100 more than the Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X?

They both seem to have the same cooling but I really cannot tell the differences between them.

Would one of you please explain why the two cards have a $100 price tag disparity?

Thanks!

Definitely not 100. I own the tri-x and it runs idle at about 45C, 70 at full load, around 55 during gaming. Seems like a lot, but its fine for a GPU. I got my tri-x for 315 ;)

Nice, thanks for the answer. I found the newegg vapor x for $100 less than the tri x on amazon so it seems the price resolved itself!

Ohh I thought you meant the Tri X was cheaper. The Vapor-X is better for overclocking from what i've read, so if you can get it cheaper than 400, go for it.

The newegg vapor-x is 470. At 70 bucks more than the 400 for the Tri-X, I'd say your better off saving the extra 70 dollars.

Make sure your case is a full tower (like the HAF X) and its very lengthy. The Tri-X is about 12inches long so it will not fit in a mid tower (or just barely)

Either one you go with will be overkill (unless you have a multi-monitor setup) for gaming right now, but its nice to have a cushion for the future.

For your Tri-X, do you get 60FPS+ on 1080p gaming such as for games like Crysis 3, Witcher 2 or any other really high end game?
