I need step by step instructions on how to determine if my hard drive needs replaced. I have several replies to this. However, a lot of the suggested solutions I am not sure if I'm doing it the right way. I need simple instructions because half of the recommendations I don't understsand some of the terms used. Thank you.

You will hear weird sounds mostly, noise, crackling, rattling, reving. It may also BSOD when copying files to drive, be slow as hell and more. The best thing to do is to download a drive diagnostic software associated to your HDD's manufacturers. Most of them are free.

And for god's sake, back up your vital files now, who knows how much longer it will last. You mustn't wait for it to break down, then its already too late!
