It is worth a try. It might be cat3 which will only get you 100m but it might work. You local hardware store likely sells rj45 jacks more commonly called keystones. It is best if the colors match the standard colors of orange, green, blue, brown but the wire color does not mean a lot keeping the pairs of colored and white wires grouped is most important.

Phone wire tends to be all connected together at some place. Data you need separate runs. So now your challenge is to find where the wire runs so you can get a path between the 2 rooms.
You are going to have to be lucky. That is not really a dsl connection it is a normal phone line. Now because builders are cheap and the easiest cable to get is cat5e cable they tend to run data cable for telephone. If you take the plates off you might get lucky and have ethernet cable. If it is the red, green, black, yellow cable that is the older telephone cable.

So even if you have telephone cable that is only half the battle. What you need to do it trace the cable back. Generally the terminate in a central location. You should be able to splice the wires from the room by your router to the other room and then put rj45 keystones on the ends to replace the rj11 phone jacks and it will work.

If you do not have the proper wire in your house I would look at powerline device to use your electrical wires or maybe moca if you have tv coax.

They do make a DSL bridge type of devices you can run on normal phone line....it still needs to be directly between the rooms. It is dsl but it is not compatible with cheap consumer routers. Since there is little demand for this it tends to not be cost effective and is fairly slow for the large costs involved.
