Hello all.

I have a 32" sony bravia that is currently connected to my ASUS ROG G75SX laptop with a NVIDIA GTX 560M graphics card.

it is connected via HDMI cable. I'm using windows 7.

Here's what happens.
The laptop detects the Sony TV and lists it as such, but the TV switches from a blue screen that says "no signal, check external unput or selecte another input" to a black screen that is blank, and occasionally instead of the black screen it correctly displays my desktop for half a second or so before going back to the blue screen.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Tutn on the laptop and then TV. Switch the TV to the HDMI input that the laptop is connected to.

When the laptop is plugged in via HDMI to the TV it detects the TV whether the TV is on or off. To get it to not detect the TV I have to unplug the TV. After unplugging the TV, reconnecting the HDMI, and turning the TV on, the issue is the same.

It goes to a screen which says "no signal" in the bottom right. Then every 15 seconds or so it will jump to a black screen that says "1360x768 60hz" in the upper left. Occasionally that screen will not be a black background with that text instead it will be my extended desktop as I've asked it to display (but that's only like once every three minutes).

EDIT: Also, this is what happens with the HDMI 1 (ARC) slot (no idea what arc stands for). It doesn't detect the TV at all when plugged into the HDMI 2 (MHL) slot (again no idea what mhl stands for)

EDIT2: Laptop occasionally detects the TV when plugged in via the TV's MHL HDMI port, but that input doesn't even flicker between black and blue, it just says no signal period.

SOLVED: HDMI cable was crap, bought a nice one and it works fine...
