I bought a Sapphire R9 280x tri x OC version. I put it in my computer and it comes on, all fans work, and the lights work on the card as well. I cannot get it to bring up a display however. Ive updated my motherboard bios, but had no luck either.

My set up

i5 2500k cpu
Asus p8z68 v LE motherboard
700 watt powersupply
8 gb G Skill ram
120 gb samsung evo ssd
1 tb samsung 7200 rpm hdd

i bought this GPU to upgrade from my Radeon 6850 HD card. Any help on the matter would be greatly apreciated

Plug it in to a monitor. Make sure you haven't plugged the monitor into the motherboard.

Make sure you're using the right ports out of the card and into the monitor.

make and model psu?

Sapphire R9 280X Tri X requires 2x6+2 pin pcie power cables in order to operate and your psu only provides 1x 6pin and 1x6+2 pin. you would need and adapter (1x6pin to 1x 6+2pin) but i wouldnt recommend it as it isnt safe to try getting 150w out of a 75w capable cable. also that psu isnt that good. it is hardly a 700w unit providing of about 50A from the combined rails.! considering also that it isnt APFC. in other words i would buy a better psu for that rig with such good o/c ability!

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3yygQ7/by_merchant/
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $59.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-09-13 04:01 EDT-0400

this is a true 750w quality psu with 4x2+6 pcie power cables that would even suffice for crossfire.!

That's a value II series PSU. Not certified and not good quality. And 2 x 12V rails @ 28A

For a 280x you need a PSU of at least 550W with 30A on the 12v rail.

I'd recommend using a Seasonic M12II 620 $75 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

i think ill get that 750 watt you suggested, it will give me room for upgrades in the future. would you suggest this power supply over a modular one?

EVGA B2 is a semi modular. the wired cables are the 20+4 pin for mobo and 4+4pin for cpu( (it has 2x4+4pin though) which you will use anyway.all pcie and periferal cables are modular!
