Hi all!
So basically I know this question has been asked alot but a direct answer in my thorough research, that's something I couldn't find
So; I asked my local retailer about the GTX 800 series, quota quote: "one week till 800 series, two weeks really cos supplier talks bull****"unsure if he is serious or not i just thought:
"So now is the time for me to grab a 760 to SLI my current 750, or wait and swap for an 860 or maybe more" ( im thinking of doing so in a couple days or weeks time but before 800 series is out, so I can finalize)????

Basically I currently have a Palit GTX 760 OC (non-jetstream)
and I was thinking of SLI or wait for 800 series.
There were a few things I saw as pros and cons of doing so from my n00by perspective:
pros:
1. The obvious
2. 760 is now very cheap and I was offered a 760 OC ver. for roughly 250 AUD brand new
Cons:
1. Unsure of the cons exactly of SLI even though I have a rough idea of what happens if SLI is not supported (from what I understand it will work with the power of only 1 gpu???)
2. the only 760 the shop I could find that sells PAlit 760 OC like mine is now out of stock but he said a GALAXY GTX760 would work fine, and I am not sure after getting to know NvIdia's strict SLI rules :/
3. unsure if my wattage/PSU would suffice 2 cards, with a future custom water CPU cooling in mind

can anyone answer with what I should do? I have around 500AUD to spare but unsure if i really need a ver very expensive card like a 770 or 780 for only 1 display, and I am unsure if the wattage in my system will be fine .

Specs:
ASRock Z87 Killer Fatal1ty mobo
i7 4770k (proposed OC to 4~4.5ghz..maybe, after the water cooling though)
2x8gb Kingston Fury X RAM
Cooler MAster 750W 80+ gold PSU
Palit GTX 760 OC
tons of fans XD
3hdds plus a samsung evo 128
212x CPU cooler by CM
all put into the monstrous CM Storm Trooper

All advice welcome and much help wanted :)
PS i thought of the GTX860, or 870 when i refer to waiting for the 800 series

You need 700w from a good quality power supply - tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html - to be able to run 2 x 760's.

I'm not even sure there will be an 8 series. The word now is that there will be a 9 series instead and that the 8 series wil only be m versions - for laptops.

2 x 760's will run about as good as a GTX780. I'd love an Asus GTX780. Runs cool and quiet and you can overclock the cra* out of it.

Till the 8 or 9 series is released, you won't know what to buy or how much to pay.

I'd recommend sitting on your hands till the new series is released, there's reviews and benchmarks available and the prices have settled including price drops with the 7 series.

But I bet when they're available, there'll be rumours of the new Radeon R10 series that are about to blow nVidia out of the water for a fraction of the price. Then you can start all over again.

Eventually you should buy something newer though. And forever be asking yourself whether you made the right decision. There's no right answer. Do what you can afford when you can afford it.

*fangirls* "i7baby replied XD"

I was leaning towards what you are saying but when I bought the PC i bought everything and a budget card, thats why the nature of the question.
Thanks for the help though, much appreciated :)
PS I am blown away with what a single 760 can do to be honest, bf4 runs at ~50 fps with ultra default setting, but as a true gamer, farmville is where it's at XD
thats why I might just stick with a single one, like you suggested
