Hey guys I'm planning on buying the top spec retina macbook pro before I buy my MacPro in early 2015, and I was wondering would my setup work. My idea is to buy myself a PS4 and this laptop and hook it up to a SONY KD-49X8505B 4k TV. My question is; does the 2014 RMBP have HDMI 2.0? If it does then will I be able to use it with my 4K TV at 60Hertz?

Solution
The macbook pro does not support 4k HDMI video at 60hz. You can confirm this at the apple specs page, in the "Graphics and Video Support" Section. https://www.apple.com/ca/macbook-pro/specs-retina/

It does however support it over thunderbolt to display port adapter. Both the Iris pro and the 750m graphics cards should be able to handle 4K at 60Hz, gaming on it is a whole other story.
