Intel HD 4000 + Nvidia 660

Okay, so I have a Lenovo Y580 Laptop with the Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia gtx 660. I just got a monitor so I can use my laptop as the secondary monitor to a dual monitor set up. When playing games, I notice my FPS is extremely low. I feel like it's using the Intel HD 4000 on the external monitor and i'm having a lot of trouble finding a resolution.

Check in bios that you have pcie graphics enabled.

Hello... You do not have a GTX660 installed in your laptop... you have a GTX660M http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+660M
it is better than the HD 4000, but don't be over optimistic in thinking you should be getting this kind of performance http://videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+660&id=2152
Look in your Device Manager for what Video hardware is installed and available to Windows.

Look in your laptop manual. Then look in bios.

Hello... Give us ( show us ) what is listed in your device manager, under "Display adaptor". The Bios setting will call the intel onboard CPU as IGT.
