Recently my HDD died so I bought a new one. Now I need the operating system, I was wondering if I could get another copy of win 7 to install on the new HDD with my existing product key that's stuck on the side of my tower.
Yes you can. Use Magic Jelly Bean to know your product key if you don't know it, then download an ISO of the same windows version of which you have the key. Burn it to a disc and it'll install as any normal version, provide the key when it asks for it. You might need to get it reactivated from Microsoft (its easy and doesn't cost a penny) if you've the OEM version of Windows, Retail would be fine

Thanks for the info, you've put a smile on my face. I'm a bit of a noob to all this and I've never had to install windows. Would I go on the microsoft website to get the ISO?
