I'm planning on piecing a new pc together for some light/medium gaming.

Struggling to choose a motherboard although i have 2 in mind currently. Below are the 2 i have in mind and would like some advice on which to get. Im using the corsair 250d case but havent choose any other components.

Asus H81I-Plus s1150 mini ATX Motherboard

Or spend an extra £50 and get the motherboard below

Gigabyte GA-Z97N-GAMING-5 Intel Z97 Socket 1150 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Open to any other suggestions

Thanks

I would say the Gaming 5 as
1, It's Z97 and will allow you to upgrade to Broadwell
2, You don't have a voltage restriction if you will OC
If you're on a budget, then the H81 board would be the way to go.

though i'm using asus h81me i will say not to get 1 h81 board.the main reason is its pcie 2 and when adding gpu it will reduce the performance about 5%.but with the same amount of money u could get a nice b85 board from asrock or msi.

I was thinking of getting a Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 dual core 3.2 ghz overlock to 4.5 ghz

but open to suggestions, but dont really want to pay for an i5

The G3258 is a very good CPU. I would strongly suggest the Gaming 5 as it'll allow you to overclock without ANY voltage limits whatsoever.

Then the Z97N would be better, since it allows for more stable overclocks.

The board you chose is of very good quality, from Asus. They are the, if not one of the beast motherboard manufacturers.

Although the Asus Z97-A would also be a good board because it has more connectors (I think) than the mini ITX board you chose.

Asus all the way, and not just because of preference. Although I like red too, MSI has HORRIBLE QC and customer service. Go for the company that will actually HELP you if the board doesn't work.

ASUS Z97I-PLUS. But that one's not black/red,it's black/gold.
This is a great (one of only 2) Z97 red/black Mini-ITX motherboard:

Go for the ASUS,definitely do.
But I understood that you wanted a black/red theme mobo,so I wondered why a black/gold mobo then. :D
Make sure to choose a solution. ;)

Black-gold looks just as good as black-red, except that it looks a bit less aggressive.
