I was wondering if I could buy an extra ssd, clone my desktop ssd (with windows8) to the ssd and put the new ssd in my laptop. Is this possible or would I have to clone my laptop hdd to a new ssd if I want a working ssd in my laptop?
As USAFRet said, the answers are no for using a Desktop HDD clone in your Laptop.
However if you clone the Laptop HDD to a new SDD that is OK. Biggest problem you will face is getting both drives attached to the Laptop. Some programs will NOT clone unless all drives are 'in' the computer, not if one is on an external device.
Hi all, I'm really new to all this and by this I mean posting up questions to a forum. My question or issue is that I have two surface pro 2 units and going to give one to my nephew. The one I want to give him is my daily use one and it has some daily wear and tear I want to clone it to my cosmetically better one. Specs are both the same everything is the same. I don't know if I can just open up the surface and do a SSD swap or do I have to clone. If I have to clone, how do I go about doing that because I am clueless on this issue.
