After thinking about getting a gaming headset, i saw that it might be better if I were to get a microphone and headphones seperately, i have no clue about headphones yet, but I think that a desktop mic such as the blue snowball might be alright. Also, can you buy a small stand for the snowball? I dont need it to be tall, i just need it to lean more because the only space I have on my desk is to the right, which is where my mouse and my huge mouse mat are, anyway, thanks for reading.

if you want quality then yes going with seperate microphone and headphones is better. however that route will also cost more too.

the blue snowball is an okay microphone. yes they do make stands but they typically are not cheap.

for $100 or under for the combo of both mic+headphones... you would be better with a headset. for $150-200 for the combo you can get something half decent in seperates.

another thing to consider is the modmic. its a boom mic you can add to any pair of headphones (which would negate your need for a desk mic)

what headphones are good for you depends on your budget and what kind of sound profile you like.

I got recommend the samson SASR850c's. They look pretty good and definitely should be based on price in terms of quality. I've been on a unlucky streak where all of my headsets that i've bought have not been working properly which has been a great inconvenience, I thought that maybe if I got them seperately it'd be easier to mix and match and upgrade one or the other, without having to change the whole thing. The headsets im having problems with have actually been USB which has put me off of them, while 7.1 is a complete waste of money, and 3.5 mm headsets from what i've seen dont have too good mics and if they are to have high sound quality then I need a soundcard. (which I dont have.)
