Hi all,

I've got some Games FPS issues ( average 30-40 ) with my PC when i put settings for these games at Max Settings:

1 - Battlefield 3
2 - Need For Speed : Most wanted (2012)
3 - The Witcher 2 : Assassins of Kings
4 - Assassins creed V : Black Flag

im afraid that i cant run the coming games :(

My PC Spec.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 MHz - 2MB cach
RAM: 8 GB
Motherboard: MSI 760 GM - E51 (MS7596)
GPU: MSI R9 270X Twin Razor
PSU: Thermaltake 500W
Monitor: Samsung 19" LCD monitor with [resolution 1360X768] [32 bit color depth]

can anyone find whats wrong with my set?

Thanks in advance

at 1360x768 that 270x should perform 60+fps on high/ultra pretty reliably

that aged PII x4 965 on the other hand...

you could try overclocking that cpu, assuming that you have adequate case ventilation and a decent cpu hsf.
if the FPS increase after cpu OC and all other things remain unchanged, then youve found your bottleneck.
personally, i wouldnt even question it. your CPU is bottlenecking the gpu.

unfortunately, the best CPU that MSi mobo supports is a PII X6...not worth the effort.

get yourself a new mobo/cpu and probably (but maybe not) ram. while youre at it, junk that piece of crap thermaltake PSU before you fry something.

That's the real power of the GPU , You want to tune down the settings little bit to medium-high and you'll hit the 60FPS.

The PSU also something that I'd replace at a later point anyways.

Edit : I didn't notice the 768P resolution , I think that's down to the CPU not being able to handle it.

forgot all about this thread, sorry!
what budget do you have? personally, id buy a PSU thats actually worth having FIRST and then worry about performance deficiencies. thermaltake PSU's are varying degrees of crap or junk, and they often fry other components when they blow up. just imagine spending $200+ on a new mobo/cpu and having the PSU fry it all a week later :)

i always recommend an intel setup. better IPC, upgradability, and generally better thermals. will an fx6300 provide better performance than what you currently have? probably a bit. i just hate seeing people upgrade to a mobo/cpu and not being able to have the performance they desire.

you could get a cheap B85/H97 mobo ($100 +/- $25) and then a cheap intel dualcore ($75 +/-) or better yet a lower end quadcore (i5 4460) for just under $200. hopefully you can transplant your DDR3 ram into the new mobo to save some money. reusing your DDR3 should work so long as its 1.5v ddr3 1333 or better. -sometimes- 1.65v ram is finicky. that would give you a beastly system for a little under $300USD assuming the old ram is compatible. add on around $75 for decent 2x4gb ddr3 1600/1866 1.5v. you could easily power the whole rig with a better quality 500W psu, which can cost as little as the $30-$45 range
