I am desperate for a solution. I have two computers, a desktop and a laptop, both wireless. Laptop always has a five-bar perfect connection. Desktop usually has a 2-4 bar connection. Every few minutes, my desktops connection drops. It will disconnect from my router and won't be able to reconnect for a few minutes, sometimes I have to reconnect it manually. I have read so many threads and still can't find a solution. Contacted my ISP(Comcast) and they said it is a problem with my computer, and they wouldn't even bother to help, lazy assholes. Anyway, does anyone have any idea how to fix it? Please respond if you do, thanks.

While I am biased against Comcast, it's not really their issue. Your laptop maintaining a good solid connection initially tells me it's a problem with the WiFi card in your desktop. What WiFi standard is your desktop WiFi card vs your laptop; A, B, G, N? How far from your router is your desktop vs. your laptop?

The laptop is actually farther than the desktop. What do you mean by the wifi standard? This problem only started it yesterday btw, and I already updated my drivers, thought I should mention.

Updating the drivers was a good step.

What standard is your router broadcasting at? There's 802.11a, 802.11n, 802.11b and 802.11g; b/g are backwards compatible.

Do you know how to login to your router?

Do you know whether the WiFi card in your desktop supports "n?"

Have you tried changing your wireless channel? I understand the signal works fine on your laptop but just as a test.
