Updating BIOS and the Risks

there is an MSI Motherboard sale going on that also gives you free Memory but in order to do that I would have to update my BIOS (according to PCPartPicker) because I'm using a i5 4690K CPU(Haswell Refresh) and would not be compatible with the motherboard unless I do the update

A few moments, I found out that they also send you the update along with the motherboard should you buy it. So does this mean it will be an automatic update and there will be no risk associated with updating the BIOS (from what I've heard, you could crash your system if you don't do the update right)

No, it means that they will update the BIOS once it's out of the factory. You don't have to worry about bricking your mobo or anything like that.
