My second monitor immediatly goes to sleep when plugged in.

I am using a AMD Radeon HD 6700 Graphics card by Sapphire. And i have a vga to hdmi converter but when i plug it in it puts the monitor into sleep mode. I am using windows 7 desktop, is their anyone who can help me out with this?
