Like the title says I just bought and installed a new GTX 770. When booting my computer, I freeze at the BIOS splash screen (American Megatrends - my mobo is ECS H77H2-M3) and cannot press any buttons to get into setup or boot order. After a bit of waiting I get a single beep. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

My PSU is only 550W so there is a good chance I don't have the power needed to run this card, but would insufficient wattage really result in this freeze at BIOS issue?

I read somewhere updating BIOS might help but the ECS website is hard to read and the applications that I downloaded don't seem to be able to "flash"? my BIOS.

Once again thank you for reading and for any help you can offer! :)

Update: Just took it out and plugged in my old 560, still boots exactly as it used to.

Using your 560, download driver sweeper and delete all existing graphics card drivers, then try installing your 770 and booting up. Hope it helps :)

Okay major update: Just did as you said, but my computer still hung in the BIOS splash screen. However after waiting for about 2 mins my computer actually booted! I installed all the drivers for the 770 and everything seems more or less normal. However even when I reboot I still get that 2 minutes of freeze in the BIOS screen (during this time I can't get into my BIOS settings or anything).

Any ideas? Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated. :)

Try going into your bios and looking for a setting to change the amount of time the splash screen stays on, on my asus motherboard you can change it, glad it starts up! :D

The whole time it is completely frozen; I can't get into my BIOS settings or boot order.

Try reseting your bios by removing the little circle battery, or by changing the jumpers round if your motherboard has it, then see what happens.
To reset it by taking out the battery, simply shutdown your PC unplug it etc. then remove the Battery for 15-20 secs then put it back in and start it up, keep me posted

Did as you suggested by removing the battery and then putting it back in and now the same problem happens, only I'm permanently stuck at the BIOS splash rather than for 2 mins.

I would reccomend updating your bios, try youtubing it if you are not sure, also make sure the card is in the PCI slot closest to the CPU, also try with different outputs such as HDMI or DVI
