First gaming build so I have no idea what monitor setup to run. I have always gamed on a 17" laptop so anything is going to look amazing, However I have a pretty decent budget so I want what i'm going to enjoy best.

My main focus is gaming.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/74NYf7 - This will pretty much be my build. Depending on how much I need I will be running 2 780ti's SLI or one of the new GTX cards but we will have to wait and see.

I have this narrowed down to 3 options.

2x24" 1080p - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... With this option I would probably be running 3 monitors eventually. But this is only 1080p.

2x27" 1440p/1080p - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... / http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... If this will actually work and wont be too much of a headache then this is a decent option. I would want to game on the ROG @ 1440p and just use the other for other things @1080p.

1x34" 1440p - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2RY... As of now I am leaning toward this option. Just wondering if it is really worth it or if there is a better alternative.

Thanks

I'd go the 2 x 27in 1440/1080p. I think it'd be a waste using 2 x 1080p 24 in and a 34in isn't practical.

Wouldn't having just 2 monitors be bad? Anything you are directly looking at in game would be split. For everyday use or gaming on a single monitor, I would agree with i7 though.

How much of a headache is it running 2 monitors with completely different specs? Would I notice any negative effect on the ROG Swift?

Hello Spooner15, the 2 x 27 inch monitors at would be the best choice.

You need at least 3 monitors to run surround. Which i do not plan to do. 1 would be used to game and the other for anything else.

  • No problems at all. Just set them up in Control Panel, Display Settings.

Ok, so I have pretty much decided on the 2 27" monitors due to setting this up will be a lot easier than I had originally thought. Now my question would be what is a good monitor to go with the PG278Q?

I had picked out this monitor, But I am wondering if this monitor is any good? Mainly picked it because of the slim bezel. All i am looking for in the second screen is to use for internet and music.
