I purchased the new Asus RT-AC68U after hearing great things about it.

I find that when I'm playing a game online via xbox, or working through a portal to connect to work, the internet drops out.

It's driving me nuts.

After going almost the entire day without timing out, it timed out this evening. Here are the messages I am getting from the log in the router. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any tips on how I could fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's what I was thinking too. AC won't help if you don't have a proper adapter and he paid hand over fist for a router that is early tech. I wouldn't recommend spending over $110 on a router. Anything more and you're just paying for...
It appears as though the issue is coming from your network. First try forwarding port 898 as that seems to be the trouble port. Make sure that your devices are getting a good signal as well.

Also a question, if your previous router was working, why get a new one?

The XBOX standard wireless is the 2.5GHz Wireless N connection - so the ASUS RT-AC68U was overkill for that unless you purchase an wireless AC adapter for the XBOX.

When you say "working through a portal to connect to work" - are you using VPN on a PC? (the same wireless connectivity issues apply).

The connections closing - how far away from the router are the devices - and are there obstructions and/or possible interference (neighbor's routers, electronic equipment, walls, floors, etc....)

Also, there's no wireless ac adapter for the xbox. You have to buy an expensive bridge.

Thank you for the quick response. I will try to port fwd. tomorrow and see if the problem persists. How would i find the gateway or ip ??

my old modem has an integrated router from smc network.

Its about 5-6 years old, was slow and timed out now and then.. thats why I went for the upgrade.

Yeah, given your situation I would have upgraded. A note for the future though, you bought a good router but it comes with many features you may not need/use. You can get a router around $100 that offers the same speed and range. The TP-Link archer is a good example.

To answer your question, gateway IP can be found multiple ways. On a windows machine - Start -> Network (on the right)

or hold down windows key + r -> cmd -> ipconfig /all

This will bring up a list of data including the default gateway for each connection.
