HP Pavilion G6-2342dx not recognizing that it is an HP laptop

My hp pavilion g6-2342dx recovery drive got wiped. I found an OEM version of windows 8 and that activated however it used to boot up and show the hp logo and it knew it was an hp laptop. What would I need to do to make it do that again. I cant install any of the extra software that came with my laptop from the website because of this. Please help.

Contact HP. If you can verify your purchase, they might send you a recovery disk that will allow you to install their HP branded version of Windows. Not sure what software you are trying to get; aside from Microsoft Office, most of it looks like bloatware or software that is offered free of charge anyway.
