CPU fan not working

my cpu fan is not working getting CPU fan error in bios even though fan is running, then my computer will start up... I cannot get into my bios because of this,

any help?? i will give specs of PC if needed

the fan is spinning and everything and it seems to be working but then it just stops i get a CPU fan error in the bios ... we are going to buy another fan tonite and see if that works

I understand that the fan is spinning, is it plugged into the right fan port? CPUFAN and NOT CHAFAN or CPUFAN2 if you only have one CPU fan. The CHAFAN ports will make the cpu fan spin, but it will not be on an auto adjust fan speed based on CPU temp as if it was plugged into the CPUFAN port.
