My PC won't start no matter what GPU I put in it. Why?

Specs: i7-3770K, Z77 Sabertooth, XFX R9 290 DD (or GTX 260), 16Gb Corsair vengeance, 750G2, Corsair Newtron SSD (OS)

First off, a family member spilled soup on the top of my case and some of it got on my parts;the only thing that had a significant amount on it was my GPU. While not knowing something had spilled on it, I continued browsing the internet when all of a sudden, my PC shut off. I turned into panic mode then times'd that by 100 when my cousin told me she had spilled soup on it. As mentioned, the GPU was the only thing that got anything on any major components. After posting here a few times, all the responses said it was my GPU, welp $200 later, that was incorrect.

I replaced the GPU, but I'm still having the exact same problems as before... Whenever I put any GPU in no matter was PCI-e slot, my PC boots past BIOS then the screen turns black 1 second after the Windows 8.1 symbol.

After looking around for a similar issue (which I couldn't find) the closest thing that came to helping me was to start my PC in Safe Mode, but it looks like my Mobo (Z77) does not have a safe mode shortcut (it says F8 in the online manual but that is to select the boot device). I cannot find any option in BIOS to directly boot to Safe Mode nor can I restart into Safe Mode from Windows because I cannot get in UNLESS I take out the GPU('s) and use on-board graphics.

1) What is happening, I have no idea what the issue is or what part may be at fault here.

2) Is there a Safe Mode shortcut I'm unaware of?

3) Is there a way to/can I fix this?

Post your build.

So far, to me anyway, it seems like you've damaged your OS drive so my recommendation would be to buy a new drive and install your OS on it.

I put my build at the top of my post.

I can start it perfectly fine though without a GPU in it so the SSD isn't damaged.

OK so now it sounds like you need to replace your R9 290.

He already replaced the video card. The problem persisted.

I don't think you have any idea what the issue is... im sure 'just trying' new things would work eventually but the point is to get MY motherboard and GPU's to work.

Dry it out for a few days. Clean out the pcie and dimm slots and cpu socket.
