Hello. I have the dell inspiron 660 and I am wondering if the ASRock Z97 Professional motherboard will be compatible or not? I know dell is bad about making it where you have to use their stuff to upgrade. And i know that the graphics card is built into the dell motherboard but i have a new graphics card. any help would be grate.

Well, unfortunately you won't be able to put that motherboard in the Dell case.

The back plate that is used for motherboards is not replaceable on OEM cases like the ones used by Dell. The power supplies are also custom wired so that the cables work in that case, but are set to strange lengths that make using them in other cases problematic.

If that is the normal case, it is set for a MicroATX motherboard - but still does not have a removable back plate.

Changing computers is probably your best option.

You should not take the case, power supply, or motherboard (you were replacing that anyways). You can salvage the DVD drive and hard drive, but usually not the memory (they love to put in a single OEM module that is the cheapest).

I have 2 2gig memory cards from an old computer that my friend melted the power core on that i think will fit from looking at pictures... they do not fit my dell mother borad because **** dell. lol.

Yes, the CPU will work - but it is a socket 1155 CPU according to Dell. You will need a socket 1155 motherboard to make it work.

The ASRock Z97 Professional motherboard is a socket 1150 motherboard, so that CPU will not work in it.

Okay. Thanks! I plan to get a new CPU so long as i can sell some of these old parts =) I am hoping I can get 300 for all the parts. If so then i am good to go. Down the road I will get a new video card for it. The one i have now is the best part of my computer. But it will soon be the worst. Maybe there will be a good one in the pc i get tomorrow. I am told it was built for gaming. I am soooo excited to look inside of it for goodies!!!!!!!!!!!
