Hello,

I reasently built this pc from scratch to do pc gaming on. I have not been getting the results for the money I spent on parts. I get alot of fps (Frame per second ) drops, In nearly all games I play. It's got to the point where I need support in working out what the problem is with my pc.

I have tried many things. Like cleaning my pc. Defragging. Disk clean ups. etc... But nothing seems to work.

I will post the pc specs below so you can have a look at what I have.

Operating System
Windows 8 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 27 °C
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 (CPUSocket) 29 °C
Graphics
SMS24B750V (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (ASRock)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (EVGA) 31 °C
Hard Drives
1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-9YN164 (SATA) 33 °C
Optical Drives
DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
MATSHITA DVD-RAM SW810

I look forward to some reply's as this whole pc has took alot of my hard earned money. To not perform in pc games.

and when I say pc games I mean every game does not have good fps. I'm not talking about flash games on browsers I am talking about games for example you would get off steam.

Thanks I really hope I can get some help with my problem.

Solution
Here's the deal. I believe your card is fine. The games yo are playing are coded REALLY poorly. Like INSANELY poorly. I just played DayZ standalone with a single 660ti and I had to play at low to stay above 20fps, AND I have all the game registry hacks already done from the link I posted earlier so I probably did a bit better form that as well.

It is not your card, but your games. Also, check in windows power options and make sure power saver mode is NOT enabled. Set it to balanced or performance mode. This is also a common cause of this.

I don't really have the expertise to help you, but does the RAM timings seem a touch slow to you? (11-11-11-28) Any experienced forum members lurking that might teach me a thing or two about it and if it might be an issue?

What games are you playing, btw? (Sorry I'm not too helpful, here)

I am not sure about RAM timings. From what my friends have told me it does not really affect the gaming experience. I play various games. Ranging from Minecraft to arma 3 and dayz which my pc should be able to run at high settings. However I still get low fps on low settings.

I THINK those games are more cpu dependent, are you getting an accurate heat reading on your CPU (try HWMonitor) and I'm not sure if it will help any but I think a prime95 stress test would show any errors with the processing cores. If it is your CPU and you are already having issues I'm not sure you want to be running a stress test, so I'd check into that before you do.

Another quick question. Do you think that my PSU CX750M can support my enitre build. If not then this may affect my fps. Also from what I see my cpu is a bit out of date Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz 27 °C
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology I also have water cooling so that also takes more power. What do you think is it my power supply do I need an upgrade on that and my cpu may need an upgrade too.

ps I'm also thinking about giving my pc a reformatting as I changed my motherboard.

Shouldn't be an issue, either way. You aren't on Intel's current mainstream socket which can affect pricing, but your CPU should still be delivering.

The power supply, while not great, is ranked tier 3. While you could do better, it should still be sufficient for what you have, unless it is defective.

If your motherboard is different, are you sure drivers are all proper? Is it an issue that has always existed or since the new motherboard?

Yes I think that I need to reformat as when I changed my motherboard. It gave me my old data back so I just went with it. So doing a reinstall may give me some better fps. As i've seen other posts when I was setting up my motherboard that you may need to reformat even if you do get your data back. What do you think?

I can reformat as soon as I get home.

Also does this Graphics
SMS24B750V (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (ASRock)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (EVGA) 31 °C

mean that it is using my motherboard's onboard GPU. This also seems a bit fishy.

I'm sorry, I don't know enough to give you an answer either way on that, I hope it works.

That's what I was wondering too, where did you call up the specs for that? Might be worth looking into which is being used,

Alright let's go over a few things. The i7 you have will be good for years to some. It will easily max all games with a good GPU.

Your GPU will NOT max all current AAA games. It is not powerful enough but it should play them at high.

What are your CPU and GPU temps AT LOAD?

Your monitor is connected to the GPU, NOT the motherboard right? If it is connected to the GPU, it is NOT using the onboard graphics. This is NOT the problem.

I will be able to get you the temps when I get back from collage. that will be in around 2 hours.

Ps should I reformat after a motherboard change. As I have not done this yet.
