ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 ethernet port not working

I recently tried to sell my conputer, but the deal fell through because I could not get my computer to connect to the guy's Ethernet connection. I've used an adapter by USB exclusively so I wasn't aware of the issue until I tried to plug it in via the Ethernet port.

The Orange light comes on when an Ethernet cable is plugged into the motherboard, but it tells me that no wired connection is found. I tried it both on his network and my home network, both with different internet providers and routers, and it didn't work.

Are there drivers or something that I need to download to make it work or is the Ethernet port on my motherboard just broken?

Yes you would need to install the motherbds ethernet drivers which Asus lists under LAN on their support page:
