A couple of months ago I purchased the parts for a new computer and had the store where I bought it build it. They did a great job and when I got the computer everything was fine for the first couple of weeks. Then, suddenly it crashed while playing a steam game. Black and grey vertical lines would appear on the screen and I would have to shut down and turn on the system again. Then, oddly, it stopped happening for about a month. Now, its happening again, almost daily, what's wrong with my computer?

Here are my parts:

Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 350D Performance Micro ATX Case
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MH
GPU: AMD R9 270x Saphire Toxic
PSU: EVGA 500W
CPU: Intel I5-4440
Stoage: 500GB HD Western Blue

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with it?

Hi
Yes indeed the artifacting can be caused most likely by a faulty graphics card. it may also be the RAM. see if you cant download a tool called Hirens Boot cd, burn it to disc and boot off of it. on this utility disk you can find cpu burn ins ( cpu testers ) hdd scanners and ram testers. its a staple tool in the I.T industry for finding those faulty lil bits of hardware. Or. one quick simple thing, get another graphics card or borrow a friends for a day. pop that in and test it out. if it still doesnt work then go on with the more stringent tests.

Sounds like a defective component. You could also try running OCCT for a bit and see what errors (if any) it gives. Run gpu and cpu stress tests individually in FurMark and OCCT to see where it fails. If you can't find a solution, I would RMA the graphics card if you can.
