So here's my RIG for those who need to know

CPU: AMD FX6100
GPU: AMD HD Radeon 7770 1GB GDDR5
RAM: 16GB DDR3
PSU: XFX PRO550W (Can do crossfire)
MOBO: ASUSTeK M5A78L-M/USB3
HDD: 1TB

So I need a GPU that is a big upgrade on my current HD7770 and can be compatible with my setup. Ideally it needs to be able to run games like BF4 60FPS and if possible the same for next gen games that will be coming like Metal Gear Solid 5 and GTA V PC. Ideally I'd like it in the £150~ range but feel free to suggest up to £175.

More about : gpu max 175

Youe best bet would be a R9 280, it's a big improvement over your current card and your PSU can handle it too.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (£163.90 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £163.90
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

EDIT: Or wait a week or so and see what Nvidia's 900-series has to offer.

The NVidia GTX 760 would be good or the ATI Radeon r9 270x
both are good upgrade for your system

Personally I like AMD as you get more bang for your buck and both consoles have AMD chips in them but I am definatly thinking of getting the R280.....May I ask how much of an improvement is it over the 7770 as i may own the new card i buy for some time.....

I know it is i was just replying about the suggestions about waiting for a Nvidia card ;)

Edit: noticed the gpu takes up 240W are you sure my PSU can handle it?

Ah okay ;)

I should also mention that for a couple pounds above your budget you can get the R9 280x, which is quite a step up:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Black Edition Double Dissipation Video Card (£189.95 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £189.95

Might be worth it.

EDIT: 240w GPU + 125w CPU = 365w, that leaves 185w for the rest of the system. Should be plenty. The R9 280x is 10w more.

Okay thanks for wattage info as a PSU broke down for me once and i dont want to kill my current one as for that card it's just too much as there will be a step up from that for £10 and so on....just to check is there a nvidia card that i could get in my price range?

Fair enough.

The best Nvidia card in that price range is the GTX760:

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB DirectCU II Video Card (£167.71 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £167.71

The R9 280 outperforms the GTX760, while the 760 consumes less power (170w) and it has fancy Nvidia features (PhysX, TXAA, etc.).

A dumbass wouldn't ask ;)

Your mobo has a PCIe x16 slot so it'll work. I can't seem to find which version PCIe that slot is though, Asus doesn't specify it for some reason. It has USB 3.0 and it's from 2011 though so I expect at least PCIe 2.0. The card should work just fine!

EDIT: This seems to confirm that the slot is PCIe 2.0, meaning it's fully compatible with the R9 280: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_700_chipset_series#760...

760G

Codenamed RS780L
Single AMD processor configuration
One physical PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 2.0 x4 slot, the chipset provides a total of 20 PCIe 2.0 lanes and 4 PCIe 1.1 for A-Link Express II solely in the Northbridge
Integrated graphics: Radeon HD 3000
GPU 350 MHz, memory shared DDR3 533 MHz, power consumption 51-61 W
ATI PowerPlay technology
ATI Hybrid Graphics
55 nm CMOS fabrication process manufactured by TSMC
HyperTransport 3.0 and PCI Express 2.0
Value DirectX 10.0 IGP segment
Public documentation is not available yet
