HI,
I recently acquired a spare monitor LG Flatron L1752S (1280x1024) resolution,I have been using LG Flatron L177WSB ( 1440x900) resolution as my primary monitor. I wanted to setup a dual monitor system, so I bought a vga to hdmi adapter to set it up with my graphics card (ATI Radeon 5670 HD). The problem is - as soon as I plug the second monitor, my primary monitor turns off, the second monitor does not turn on as well.I tried reversing the cables and displays but still it didn't work .
My PC Specs
Intel DH16WW Motherboard
core i3 2100 processor
8 gigs of ram
Ati radeon 5670 hd ddr5 graphics card
400w PSU
Is resolution an issue here or is the psu too weak to support dual monitor setup..?
Kindly suggest any advice..
Thankyou

In reading other posts about this card - for dual monitor setup you have to use the DVI and HDMI outputs from the card to the monitors. Not sure why you can't use VGA.....but it appears to be a limitation of the card. Your best bet is to buy a cable that goes from DVI to VGA and a second cable that goes from HDMI to VGA - some of these adapters don't work well with all cables, and it gives you another failure point.

Hello... HDMI is a pure digital signal, VGA is a analog electrical signal... You need to verify on your video card if there are VGA pins available for use, typically the DVI-I connectors will have VGA analog pins to use with a DVI/VGA adaptor. Newer cards are not including VGA pins any more.

Any time you change a connector/signal type from your Video Card to your Monitor, you need to change the input setting on your monitor.

Please provide a link to the vga/hdmi adapter you bought.VGA is an analog only signal and hdmi is a digital only signal and only a more expensive active adapter/converter would work.
You might have been better off with a dvi adapter..
Thank you very much for addressing the issue so quickly
I guess the adapter I used was not good enough

I will try my luck using a DVI adapter

The HDMI to VGA cable is going to be expensive.....you have to have an encode/decode ability on either the monitor and/or GPU - I don't think the GPU has this....Does the monitor(s) have an HDMI or DVI input?
Both my monitors are pretty basic.
They have only VGA port.
Thanks very much for your reply.

Extra VGA pins are not available as you said.
And the monitors that I use are pretty basic and do not support any input modes.
I'll try using DVI to VGA adapter and hopefully it might work out.
Thanks very much for your feedback...

Is it fine to use, for example, the HDMI port for one monitor and VGA/DVI for the other?
Thanks in advance
