I'm looking for some advice on what upgrade(s) I should make to my now one year old PC. I use it for gaming, android development and general internet surfing.

Current Spec;
Processor - AMD FX-6300
Graphics Card - XFX Radeon 7870HD 2GB (Tahiti Edition)
Ram - GeIL Enhance Corsa 2x4GB 1333MHz
Storage - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM HDD
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

Potential Upgrade;
Processor - AMD FX-9590
Graphics Card - XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB
Ram - Kingston Beast 2x8GB (or 2x4GB) 2400MHz
Storage - Seagate 2TB 7200RPM Hybrid

So if anyone has any recommendations of what parts are/aren't necessary or any different part recommendations they would be very appreciated.

If these planned upgrades won't make much of a difference to me then I'll just get a new monitor.

Thanks for any help.

are you sure you want a fx 9590 its extremely power hungry processor it have a tdp of 220 watt plus that motherboard you have will not support the fx 9000 series processor and increasing the mhz of a ram will not make any performance difference for storage you already have a 1 tb hdd so target for a 120 gb ssd .

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah but that's at max usage though is it not? It won't always be drawing that much power? If I'm needing to upgrade my motherboard as well then that puts the 9590 out of bounds unless it would be a very good upgrade. Why wouldn't my motherboard work with that CPU, they both have the AM3+ socket?
I thought the MHz of RAM mattered?
I was thinking about an SSD but wasn't sure whether it would be worth it for the cost.

there are only few motherboard which can handle a processor like fx 9590 and the motherboard should be a 990fx chipset ..these are few motherboard which is compatible with the processor http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/
The mhz of ram matters when you are into rendering stuff or using a APU you will not see any fps difference by increasing the mhz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgzA2C61z4
yes ssd is an additional upgrade not compulsory though it reduces the loading time of any application and software your pc will boot in 10 - 15 sec if you install games on it then the loading and saving time will be much faster.

Thanks for the links, really helpful.
Well I guess an SSD seems like the way to go, thanks for your help.

Just for future reference is the FX-9590 any good? Would it be a good upgrade for the future (along with a new motherboard)? Or would I be better maybe making the switch to Intel?
