I am converting from console to pc at Christmas and have decided to build my own.
I don't really know much about building pcs because I have never built one before.

I ain't looking to over clock until I know what I'm doing.
I just want to play games like bf4, minecraft, cod, borderlands, bio shock, assassins creed and far cry on decent framesps and graphics.

Could you guys tell me if this build is a good starting point in the pc gaming life.
Thanks in advance
Thomas

For gaming it's more important to put more money towards your graphics card, so I changed the cpu to an i3 and the graphics card to a much more powerful one. The r7 250x that you had chosen isn't very good value for money either. I aslo changed the ram to 2x4gb rather than 1x8gb as dual channel is faster than single. You also don't need a cpu cooler as you won't be overclocking, so I removed that.

CPU: Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor (£87.59 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£35.56 @ Ebuyer)
Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£58.49 @ Ebuyer)...

I would really recommend going with the i3-4330 and the 7870. The 7870 that I have suggested is only £112 pounds which is really cheap . You'll really struggle to play games like bf4 with the gtx 650 and even the gtx 750, but with the 7870 you can play games at 1080p with high graphics. Or you could spend a bit more money and get an i5 with it.

Would this be able to do what I want it to do and casual school work as well?

Thanks again
