Howzit guys

I'm building a new gaming rig and need to ask you guys some questions regarding the RAM and CPU Frequency .
For my system im putting in the Asus Maximus VII Formula 1150 board
Intel Devils Canyon I7 4790k
And lastly Corsair Vengeance Pro 16 GB DDR3-2800Mhz RAM.
My question is , the CPU supports 2 channel DDR3 1600Mhz , my RAM runs at 2800Mhz , is this a problem? and if so how can i solve it because i don't quite understand this area of computers
Much Appreciated :)

I just means to get it to run @ 2800 you have to set it up in the overclocking part of the BIOS.

It's just that the base speed for that board is 1600, and that memory will run just fine @ 1600.

The higher setting is just a setting in the BIOS,and in My opinion isn't really overclocking, as it is all rated to run at that speed.

A board of that caliber, should have all the overclock setting you need.

If you run the 2800 RAM @ 3300 that's overclocking.

ok awsome so you dont have to stuff around with cpu overclocking and shit to get the ram running at its 2800Mhz speed , just a simple setting the bios you say ?

I don't know that exact BIOS but, RAM can be clocked separate, on any overclocking board.

Many lesser boards for that matter

To run 2800 sticks at 2800 you may well have to OC your CPU a bit also...to get to 2800 initially just try enabling XMP and select profile 1 for 2800...if it boots OK then may want to try Prime95 or something to ensure it's stable, if not or doesn't boot correctly try OCing the CPU to about 4.2 or 4.3 then try setting XMP and to 2800
