Girlfriends Computer Keeps Crashing

My girlfriend has an old desktop PC from about 4 years ago and it has been fairly slow for a while now but recently its been getting the BSOD and today it got the error message 'C:/Windows/system32/services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819. The System will now shut down and restart'

Does anyone know why this maybe happening? Is it just that the computer needs to have new parts put in?

Any help is appreciated.

weird when i googled that error code it was saying it's malware/virus running amuck on your computer. wipe the harddrive clean and do a full reinstall of windows. save your data to a usb drive and after you reinstall windows run a virus check on that usb drive so you ownt reinfect yourself

I will give this a go, it wouldn't surprise me if it was something along those lines.
