Im currently deciding on which cpu I should get based on computer usage and price.
I am planning to build my computer for gaming in 4k as well as software application development.
I have came to a conclusion of 3 cpu's. I want to have all parts probably sometime during december 2014 or april 2015.

4690k - $250
4770k - $360
4790k - $360

Comparing the 4770k vs 4790k. the 4790k has slight upgrades even though its running for the same price as the 4790k

looking at the 4690k, I noticed that it has 6mb cache as compared to the 8mb. Not sure if it will be a big deal.

I need help to decide which cpu i should get. budget of pc build is $2000

More about : 4690k 4770k 4790k

2mb IS A BIG DEAL. More cache, especially in CPU intensive tasks can give much better performance. You have a pretty big budget so go for the 4790k it runs cooler than the 4770k. I presume you will buy a overkill GPU setup so to reduce bottleneck dont get a 4690k.

If you can afford it then the 4790K for sure. It's the best out of all of those.

4770k and 4790k are same price. Just get the 4790k :p

i5 4690k is fine for gaming but if you have the budget just shoot for the 4790k because it will help you if game companies start making games multi threaded
