OK installed my new HDD and went to install Windows 7 Home Premium and I don't have the disc that goes with this computer the version of Windows that I did install won't accept the code on the side of my computer. HP is no help they no longer offer a recovery repair kit for my system.

The original drive will still load windows but most times you can only do 2-3 actions before the busy wheel pops up and never stops (hence the new hdd)

I've booted the system with the old drive running as a secondary drive and the new drive can see it but I don't know how to access it

Is there anything I can do? I can't afford to buy a new OS and I really need this computer up and running (past the 27 days left on my trial)

The Product Code on the sticker on your PC is only valid for a specific Windows version (ie the version that was pre-installed on it at the factory). Therefore, you must install exactly the same Windows version (including the same Service Pack status) as the original.

Alternatively, you can try cloning the new HDD from the old one, using widely available disk cloning software.

This is a very popular free one: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

Will that work with the old drive having something wrong with it? Or will I just clone the problem?
