Hello, first time posting on TH, been a lurker for about a year or so. if this is the wrong place to post this, let me know. Anyway, I am working on my first computer rig. Specifically one that is optimized for video editing/gaming (looking for good speed and storage quality) My knowledge of computers is fairly proficient, but I still have loads to learn. My first step in this gradual process is to find a case to fit all the elements inside of. At the moment I'm eyeing two options, buying a completely new case (potentially of the alienware kind), or using the case of an old computer I have, the Dell Dimension 3000 (will post pics). My intention was to clear out and toss the old computer parts, so I thought why not use the case for a potential new computer. So, my question is this: Can I use the Dell D3000 case as a suitable case for a video editing/gaming optimized computer? If so, what size parts will work/fit with the case?

by the way, if its any help, the computer case dimensions are 14.125 (W), 14.5 (L), 7.125 (D)

Welcome to the PC builders family! make sure to research your parts :) .
Unfortunately, this case is old and unpractical. A lot of the crucial components that you need in your PC, would be a pain to install.
Good cases don't have to be expensive.
This is a really good case, with good looks, size and airflow.
You can get any case and mobo size you want but trust me, don't get a massive case with big expectations to upgrade and fill in the space. most likely it is wasting cash. http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-BFC-PRO-300-KKXSK-RP-P...
Have fun :)

That case would work but it is pretty old.
