Hello I just got a SanDisk 256gb SSD and am wondering how to install it into my computer. I connected the power and sata cables to my drive and motherboard but my computer does not recognize it. I do not want my SSD to be my main drive, which are what all the videos and web searches came up with. All I want to do is add it to my available storage and be able to put games on it. What do I do? or what am I doing wrong? Thank you for your input.

Solution
Most people want to reinstall Windows on the OS so you can get shorter boot times and snappier Windows.

Go to Disk Management and you should see the drive. Right click on it and select New simple Volume.
Alright here's how you get to the disk management.

First of all Right click on Computer , Click manage and then a window will pop up afterward you'll find some tabs on the left . One of them will be called storage underneath it a mini tab called disk management click on it and then you'll find your NEW SSD , what you'll need to do is to right click it and format it * in case its not online click make online * then after formatting it choose to make it as a new volume , Format it as GBR .

Your drive should be ready to be used after configuring it as a new volume :)
