my roomates said that i cant move the router to another room unless the outlet is active


we have internet and everything i just want to move it do i have to call comcast to have them activate the place where i want to plug it in

Comcast seldom does in house wiring. All you need to do is track down where the wires run to and be sure the jack is connected to the cable. I suspect since comcast normally uses cable tv coax you could just connect it the splitter. It may already be connected. If it does not work well you may have to replace the splitters with ones designed for data.
