Hey guys an gals,

Perhaps you can hep me with this problem. I recently tried to reinstall Windows 7 64bit Upgrade version. I have already backed up my data to and external HDD,

My computer was really slow so I tried to reinstall windows from scratch. I inserted the disc, and rebooted my computer, booted from disc,

I had my hard drive split into two partitions. The main one, (0) was was my operating.system. The other (1) was just for my iTunes library. Both were 500GB.

I tied to reinstall windows by reformatting the HDD and it said that I couldn't on either partition so I tied to erase the (0) partition and then clicked on new on my primary partition. It would not let me format it though. It said that it was the wrong type or something. This is a partition that I had cloned from an old HDD that was on it's last legs a couple of years ago.

I then shut down the computer and tried to boot from disc again, this time after deleting the old partition. An error message comes up that says "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

I cannot seem to get to the boot from disc screen now after inserting the DVD,

Please help!

I have a retail version of Vista and an upgrade version of 7.

Thank you.

Is the external drive connected when you try to install Windows? If yes, have you tried the install without the external drive attached? Have you tried doing a Startup repair using the Windows 7 and going to a command prompt to remove the partition or partitions?
