hmm for sure the SLI with two GTX660 can perfom better.
But i think you must look for the R9 280x.
Perfom almost the same with the GTX770 but it has 3GB Vram which is good for future use.

Otherwise wait for the next nvidia series GTX970 4GB gpu.

The 970 will make more sense. Not all games support SLI.

GTX 970 = GTX 780 = GTX 660 SLI

Is not only the perfomance.
New games need more then 2GB Vram so GTX770 and GTX660 SLI is not good choice right now.

That why i said go for the R9 280x 3GB or wait for the GTX960 or GTX970 4GB.

If u were gonna get the 770 and it be the classified model I would spend the few extra bucks and just step to a 780. Heck or even a 290x which can be had for under $499

I suggest:

a) Waiting for the GTX970/980 information which probably will come in four days on the 18th, and

b) Stick with a SINGLE CARD. Despite the benchmarks that show games getting higher frame rates per dollar with SLI/Crossfire you need to consider potential stutter issues, noise, and the games that can't use it at all as mentioned.

3) 2GB not recommended anymore.
*I've been happily recommending 2GB of VRAM and still do, but once you start getting over $300 I recommend 3GB or more. The GTX970 may cost $350 (nobody knows yet) and will likely have at least 3GB.

The new gaming CONSOLES are going to encourage more VRAM usage out of upcoming cross platform games due to the new architecture that uses more memory.

**The new XBOX/PS machines have 8GB of shared memory which is 16X more memory than the previous generation!

If I were to even consider SLI I would get the striker 760's. IMO 4gb cards are meant for SLI.. When you SLI cards, let's say two 2gb 760s, you will only have 2gb of VRAM. There aren't really stutter issues anymore but there are compatibility issues with games and SLI. Go with option one from photon and call it a day :)

yea micro stutter is pretty much completely gone these days. I havent experienced it once on my 780ti's. Also yes if u were gonna sli the 760's 4gb models would be best. The 900 series from nvidia is said to drop in a few days which will more then likely drop the prices of the current stuff out right now. The 900 series so far hasnt shown GREAT performance improvements over current hardware out right now so i dunno if i would wait. If it were the 20nm stuff i would say wait but it isnt. Its just a slightly improved on more energy efficient version of the stuff we already have now just like the 770 was for the 680 before it. Wait a few days and see what the benchmarks say.
